Shiv Sena said that the farmers were stuck in the loan trap and suffered heavy losses due to unseasonal rains this year. The editorial laid out the plight of the farmers and said that they were not able to sell their products at a good rate to keep the business cycle running.

Due to scarcity of rain and as well as the unseasonal rainfall this year, the yield has been affected drastically which has put the farmers in a difficult position.

Shiv Sena editorial slammed the government and said that the farmers had elected a government in 2014 to help them break away from the clutches of loan. The editorial also said that while the government took some steps in this direction, it was of no use unless the farmers come out of the loan trap.

Shiv Sena said that the government was not there just to take stock of the situation and keep a catalogue of the losses suffered by the farmers.

The Saamna editorial said that instead of helping the farmers, the government and the administration was busy preparing for the Lok Sabha elections.

The editorial also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi blaming the Congress for the farmers’ plight was not a solution to the problem.

Shiv Sena said that the farmers being poor because of the Congress party is true to a certain extent but the Congress has not been in power since 2014.

Shiv Sena said that it would do no good to keep on repeating that the Congress was responsible for the condition of the farmers in the country.

The editorial further named the governments in which the Congress was in opposition. Shiv Sena said that only one party was not responsible for the condition of the farmers.

The editorial pointed out that the farmers were in debt but it was not the responsibility of the money lenders but the government itself is answerable.
